Meek Mill And Jay Z Start A New Criminal Justice Reform Organization Details!

The two rappers revealed that they have launched a criminal justice reform organization! Earlier today, Meek Mill and Jay Z led a press conference at NYC’s John Jay College and during the event, they announced a brand new REFORM Alliance, which, ABC News reports, is supposed to ‘drastically reduce the number of people who are under the control of the criminal justice system by changing laws and public opinion.’

The news outlet reported that Mill explained: ‘I’m here to speak for all the people who don’t have a voice. I got caught up in the system … and I always wondered what happened to people in situations worse than mine.’

It looks like Mill and Philadelphia 76ers owner Michael Rubin will be co-chairing the organization.

This new initiative comes a few months after the rapper was released after spending five months behind bars for violating an almost decade-old probation.

‘I started to further my life with the music industry — from traveling the world, performing worldwide and actually making money to be able to provide for my family and take them out of their ruthless environment. But every year or two was something that always brought me back to ground zero, and it was probation, and I always wondered what happened to people in situations worse than mine,’ Meek explained his motivation.

As for Jay Z, the rapper stated at the press event that it was like Mill’s arrest story ‘sparked the match for the nation.’

It sounds like the stars are determined to make a real change in the legal system.
